Temporary Setback Day 10

Well, all I can say is I blew it yesterday. I had two ketone shakes during the day and ate an Atkins Peanut Carmel Cluster Bar and a hand full of almonds. I hung out with my husband all day. So far so good. Then we went to a birthday dinner at a restaurant for a friend.

We arrived on time and about an hour and a half later than I like to eat dinner. Everyone else showed up late including the birthday girl…which left me staring at the basket of bread on the table.

Freshly made – smelled SO good – dinner rolls. The heat from them seeped their flavor right into my mouth. I couldn’t stand it. I ate two of them with every packet of butter on the table.

In between bites with my mouth stuffed with bread, I ordered tuna sashimi and breaded coconut fried shrimp. I was just getting started.

After I devoured the appetizers, I ordered a big prime rib steak. Just to make myself feel a little less guilty, I passed on the baked potato.

I was proud of myself for ordering sauteed spinach and mushrooms as my sides. Yeah, ’cause that was going to mitigate the damage. At least I did not order dessert.

So what am I going to do? Let this be the end of the road for me? No way. I have come too far. I had a third shake when I came home. I tested in moderate ketosis an hour later.

But all the kings horses could not have saved me from the scale this morning. There it was staring back at me. I went up .6 lbs.

It is a temporary setback. It is one I have learned from. I could have worked out yesterday, but did I? No. There was plenty of time for it too.

I have learned that the ketone shakes can save me from some bad choices. They are really good at putting my body in ketosis, which is fat burning mode.

However, carbs are the enemy and two days in a row of shaking hands with them has its’ consequnces, even if they were pretty yummy. BUT … I am back at it today and already feeling like a boss again. Winners don’t quit.

Ketone supplements are a great way to kick start keto and low carb. They do some of the dirty work for you! Like a rubber band in a sling shot baby. They propel you in the right direction. What you do with it from there with keto or low carb, intermittent fasting and working out, will only enhance what these shakes do to help you move in the right direction.  They helped me take off 6 pounds in a week! Stay tuned for more progress. It only gets better from here.

  1. It’s great to see you are so enthusiastic and positive even after a moment of weakness. Keep in mind that it’s not just carbs that can knock you out of ketosis. Your liver converts excess protein into sugar through a natural process called gluconeogenesis. I posted a more detailed explanation earlier today if you are interested 🙂
