I woke up this morning with a happy heart. You know the feeling when you find something that fits so well with what you have been looking for? That was before I stepped on the scale. I am down another .4 lbs. today! Hurray! I am getting there a little bit at a time.
My day yesterday was not stellar. I stayed home all day because I had forgotten my thyroid med twice in the past week and I was tired. I mostly read and watched some diving videos. I love to dive. It is my passion. I dive as often as time, finances and my spine issues allow.
I was born with scoliosis. I have a backwards S curve in my spine. I wore a Milwaukee brace from ages 14-18. I had two cervical fusions in my 30’s. I have a fixed titanium plate in my neck that holds everything in place. I now have a disk that is slipping below my fused levels. In addition, I have chronic pain in my lower back due to bulging disks that have torn in the past. I also have sciatica and Sacroiliac joint pain on both sides.
I have used steroid injections and nerve ablation in the past. I am at a point now where I question if the risk of using the steroids is worth the temporary relief. One of my husband’s friends was just diagnosed with a tumor at the site of his steroid injections. His doctor thinks the steroids contributed to his cancer. That makes me really stop and think.
As if all of the above doesn’t make me enough of a hot mess…I also have osteoarthritis in my hips and knees. But but but … I am way better off than some people. It could be so much worse!
Ben gay is my friend. I also alternate heat and ice when the pain flares up. I use a muscle relaxer at night when it becomes unbearable.
All of this is suppose to get better with a ketogenic (keto) diet. I need to study up on the keto diet. I know it is a higher ratio of fat with moderate protein and low on the carbs. It is suppose to be great for lowering inflammation. I hear it helps with all of the issues I mentioned above. I need to learn more and try it out.
Right now I have been losing weight using a low carb diet, but not doing it perfectly. If you read my posts from the past few days you will see I am a big fan of intermittent fasting and using the Keto//OS supplements. The supplements help maintain a state of ketosis, even when I am not perfect about eating low carb. If you want to try them, you can order ketone shake samples here.
Yesterday I had my morning coffee. Then I had an Orange Dream keto shake. I used a whole pack for the shake. I did not get hungry until about 3:00 in the afternoon! I ate bbq sauce on Costco chicken. Third day in a row for that. I am going to do something different today. In the afternoon yesterday I also tried the Chocolate Twist flavor using a whole pack. I drank it up and it was so good! I love the flavors of each kind I have tried.
So my mission for the next few days is to learn more about the differences between a keto diet and a low carb diet. I want to switch over to the keto diet. The more research I dig into on the keto diet, the more things I learn it helps. Here is one article I found on it. Alzheimers and . Sounds pretty amazing. Keto diet research link
I am off to help some friends who have two sets of twins! I have my keto shake and I am raring to go. Have a great day!
